labelled by age according to the content that is appropriate the age that is
given, the age ratings are given as guidance to consumers (especially parents),
this guidance will help the consumers decide whether they want to buy that
certain product or not. To help PEGI run more smoothly they have different
boards and committees, for example on the board side of things you have the
PEGI Council. The PEGI Council is mainly composed by national representatives
of PEGI that can recommend adjustments to the code of social, legal and
technological developments. The next board is the Complaints Board; they deal
with complaints that relate to things such as the breach of PEGI’s code. When
it comes to the different committees you can have the Criteria Committee, Legal
Committee and the Enforcement Committee. The Criteria Committee is made up with
representatives from ISFE, NICAM and VSC, there job is to modify things like
the PEGI questionnaire. The Legal Committee is a voluntary system that runs in
conjunction with existing national laws. Then finally, you have the Enforcement
Committee, their job is to implement the recommendations of the Advisory Board
as well as ensuring the enforcement of the PEGI code of conduct.
